About
Robert Duval is a credential holder in the Western Ontario District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
He comes from a business background, but his greatest passion is seeing others experience the deep healing he has found through his faith in Jesus. He has served in the church and on ministry boards, taught at home and abroad in many settings - but in recent years his focus has been on simply sharing his greatest passion, inner healing, forgiveness, and our core identity in Christ.
He serves at Church in the City in downtown Toronto, alongside his wife of 31 years, Carmen.
A brief message from Robert:
I should not be alive today - my life is a genuine miracle.
A lot of us are walking around, even Christians, wearing a brave, faith-filled mask on our faces, underneath living with unforgiveness, depression, even anxiety, truth be told. And we are deeply stuck and can’t understand why. I was one of those for over 20 years as a very committed, serving Christian.
I experienced every form of abuse during my childhood, along with abandonment from the age of 11. I was programmed from a young age at a deep level, that I was unlovable, unworthy. I did not know my true identity, even after finding Christ as a young man of 22, the first in my family.
I tried to find man’s affirmation and my true identity in so many ways —marriage, becoming successful in business, serving in the church and in missions — all in a vain effort to earn the Father’s love and approval for me that was already freely given. Nothing worked, and His precious peace, joy, and assurance on this earth eluded me.
I finally learned, after many years, nothing but Jesus can ever fill our deepest holes, our deepest wounds. Through a long, winding journey, I finally invited Jesus in to heal my shattered heart, and I finally embraced my true identity as his adopted, beloved son.
I have found peace — even His joy — even after the greatest trauma a person can face, a peace that simply should not be possible.
